Beyond the Gates of Antares - Ghar Rebels Pt.1: First Squads

Once again welcome  too the loyal Readers, Minions, Bots and random link clickers to OoaB.

So 2 posts in one week?

Yeah that doesn't happen that often anymore.

Anyhoo as you may have guessed from reading the title that I have started yet another Gates force, this time the little shooty feckers known as the Ghar Rebels.

You may remember way back in early April when I posted the Beyond the Gates of Antares - Shall I? Blog post that I just couldn't choose between Ghar and Boromites.

In the end as we all know I went with the Rock Gods themselves, the Boromites. But now it's time for some Ghar loving but not the Ghar Empire as first thought but their more entertaining Rebels.

The Ghar Outcast Rebel Army, led by Fartok, has to rely on what they can capture, repair or fabricate using the modest resources available to them. This has resulted in a force with a wide variety of troops and equipment, at least compared to the relatively homogeneous armies of the Ghar Empire. Most significantly, it means that a rebel army is fundamentally an army of ordinary outcast infantry supported by a lesser number of machines including refurbished battle armour and captured crawler vehicles.

The 3 Ghar Command Squad above is made up from Warlord Book exclusive figures, in this case Nurk 27 and 2 Blackguard.

Nurk had a Boromite brain graft (Not by choice) and was rendered more or less insane, you can read more about him here:

Above are some Battlesuits, standard Ghar Empire units just with a new paintjob reflecting a bashed up semi working suit.

I have 2 boxes of these but I really didn't enjoy painting them so I may not use the other unit just yet.

Last for now is a Hybrid Weapon (Above), Ghar Rebels loot what they can use and meld it with Ghar tech, very unreliable but very very shooty when it does work.

So whats next?

Well I'm waiting for a order from Warlord Games containing Farty-tox and some Black Guard (And more Boromites bits too :D ) then I'll get some more weapon teams.. maybe 4 in total.

Anyway Ta Ta for now and comments always welcome.

  1. Really cool mate! Love the scheme, a good contrast to the white/purple of your Boromites.
The Ghar Rebels are my fav of the Antares range - loads of cool, fun sculpts.

    1. Thanks bud, aye they are great sculpts (Well not so much the larger stuff) plus Rebel Ghar are just a very nasty force as they are a shooty hoard force.. Maybe I'll win a game now?... Ok maybe not hehe

    1. Thank you. It's just the Big battlesuits I didn't like doing, the Command Squad was quite fun :)

  3. Our Rebel Ghar force has won 5 out of 5 battles so far, including a couple of devastating wipeouts, so you should have a bit more luck with them. Rebel mag light support in particular is a lot of shooting for 26 points.

    1. Yeah I'm thinking 1 Repeater, 2 MLS and 1 Mag Cannon along with disruptor in a Outcast Squad in a 750pts force then Fartox, Battle Suits and Black Guard to bulk up the points. Hopefully should be ready in time for the next Warlord HQ event in September :)
